AW: Strange problem with Terratec Home Cinema or decoder?

I have identic problems; ati radeon card 1600xt, cinergy 1400 dvb-t, avc codec (core avc and powerdvd7), powerdvd 7 codec, terratec home cinema latest version, latest version of BDA driver.

When I record .ts I can see the missing video when I play it back under powerdvd, but the stream is corrupt, it slows down completely and then races ahead all the time.

I have tried ALL possible combinations of options (ati Avivo hardware acceleration, deinterlacing and dozens of other options) and nothing made the video appear.

Unfortunately I was not able to test the card under DVBviewer as an alternative software for DVB-t reception, my hardware is unknown (although its on the hardware compatibility list).
Maybe its the problem in the newest .18 set of bda drivers?

Anyhow, what I do know is that CROATEL broadcasts an mpeg4 stream of some sort and that EVERYONE and their mother have this "no-picture-sound-only" problem.

Someone should really look into this problem as it makes all cinergy dvb-t cards useless.

We are currently not sure if the transponder dump has already errors. Could you also do a transponder dump with DVBViewer?

I have managed to make DVB viewer work with the cinergy 1400.
DVBviewer v3.2.6 with registered CoreAVC codec registered manually using Radlight filter manager 1.5 - and I got the picture :winken:
However, it is VERY slow, jitterish and with a lot of artifacts.
This proves that the hardware is indeed capable of receiving CROATEL transmissions and that the problem lies in the software package/drivers.

I am able to record a .ts with dvbviewer but its unplayable under ANY and ALL programs, bsplayer, VLC, media player, terratec home etc.

Some info on the feed itself:

BTW, how do you make a transponder dump with terratec software?

The tranponder dump file is not readable (only sound, no video) under ANY programs or codec packs. I dont know whether it can be of any use to anyone, if you want I can send it to you, but its kinda big, 50mb - would need a ftp login/pass to upload it or a mailbox with a really huge file limit :)

I removed some codecs and found out that there is only one coded that makes DVBviewer WORK with cinergy 1400 (for whatever reason).
    The: PushSource_H264.ax

Now, strange thing is this; AFTER I install and manually register this codec I can switch to elecard coreavc or cyberlink codecs and those will work, without this codec, none of those will work.
So, I presume that either those other codecs (other than pushsource) never actually became active (pushsource was active all along) or pushsource does something for direct show to make the video actually show.

Next step to try: transponder dump via dvbviewer.

Another thing, just used TSplayer on that transponder dump that I did.
The picture showed but it is jitterish, heavily interlaced, it stutters terribly, all motion is blurred, but the sound is ok.
All fast motion is VERY pixellated.

Question: how do I make a transponder dump with DBVviewer (I did check the manual, found nothing useful on the topic).

I just noticed that THC plays Croatel much better if you disable DxVA in the Cyberlink H.264 options.

Can you please test this option with THC (and other software)?

I also noticed that the Croatel MPEG-TS stream that we have here has a lot of misalignments.
Usually a TS packet is 188 bytes long and you find a sync byte every 188 bytes. This is not the case for this stream.
If I correct this alignment in our software, I can play all stations but with a lot of errors.

To verify if this is a problem of the broadcasted stream or the software aDVBViewer Dump would be great.

If you like to help us we'll tell you tomorrow where to upload the file. Please send an email to thc.beta@terratec.de.

The easiest way is to use TransEdit (see DVBViewer members area) and the recorder of the built-in TS Analyzer (Manual). Select all streams that show up in in the PID List and click Start Recording.

Often caused by high CPU load or by an application that has been set to Real Time Priority, preventing the app resp. Windows from flushing data buffers in time when recording. A DVB device driver usually loses whole TS packets, which means, data is missing, but the alignment is still ok. However, the size of the disk buffers may not be a multiple of the TS packet size (188 bytes), resulting in misalignment if such a buffer is dropped.

Ok, thanks to Griga. That's a good hint. If the CPU usage is too high, there could be already some errors in the transponder dump. In TerraTec Home Cinema you should disable Audio/Video playback via context menu before doing the transponder dump again. As Friedo already told, we will provide you a new link on our FTP to upload the dump.
