i can recommend that you buy your self a Dreambox....

with the right image and PVR you can record every movie or series
its a very good receiver but it costs a "few" bucks ....

if you do have the money to buy it...you wont regret it

I can recommend you also a Dreambox. For pip you need a Dreambox 8000, this costs about 800,00 €.
To your satellite dish, I thinkyour friend wants to install add one lnb to Astra 28,2°. Then you might be able to use BSkyB.

Or the friend wants to install one LNB for Astra 23,5° East (on this satellite you can watch the Kabel-Deutschland-Channels).

If you want a really good receiver, which offers you endless possibilities for modifications, you should buy a dreambox.
It is worth the money you pay for it.

100 € ist a very low budget for a receiver, which is able to record something.
You could buy a single-receiver for this price, but when you use a single-receiver you will not be able to watch another program at the same time when you record something.
For this feature you need a so called twin-receiver for minimum 200 €.

welcome to Germany.
The Dreambox might be worth the money, but it`s (as far as I know) difficult to handle all the possibilities it is able to, means takes a lot of time and knowlege to get the system run smoothly!
There are a lot of other recievers (not licensed by Sky!) which will allow you to watch/tape the movies and transfer it onto the computer.
You can get descend hardware for already 230,- to 300,-€. Don`t forget you have to spend additionaly aprox. 80,-€ to get the Common Interface Unit (CI) incl. programmer you need to decode the smartcard from Sky!
So let us know what exactly your "friend" offers you and what you decide to do. We will try to our best knowledge to help you out.

There are some twin-receivers, which do not need such a CI-Module. So, when you buy one of these receivers, you can save the 80 € for the module.
The Edision argus vip2 is such a receiver, 200 € is the price.
(you have to connect an external hard drive to this receiver to record the program)
