Kann mir jemand evtl. ne technische Frage beantworten (hab da keinen Schimmer von). Ich hab momentan ein irisches sky abo. Wenn nun die neuen Freesat karten auf den Markt kommen, wollte ich mir eine davon besorgen. Um jetzt nicht immer die Karten wechseln zu müssen wollte ich mir ne billige Zweitbox bei e-bay ersteigern. Ist es möglich zwei Boxen an ein Kable zu hängen mittels Splitter? Mir ist schon klar das immer nur eine Box laufen kann, aber das wäre mir egal. Zweites Kabel verlegen ist nicht möglich, bzw. gewollt.

I have a funny feeling sky are not going to give cards out, you need to buy there system which I think will be around £150stg, with guaranteed viewing for 2 years. If I was you I would wait untill the actually start this new service.

RTE sendet auf Astra 2D, genau wie BBC 1 London. An Deinem Wohnort ist das alles überhaupt kein Problem.

Sky One Ireland hat komplett andere Werbeinseln als Sky One UK.

Einen guten Vorgeschmack bekommt man, wenn man die beiden Versionen von Sky News auf 12207 V vergleicht.

Auch Sky Sports 1 Ireland ist ein anderes Programm als die UK-Version. Die irischen Programme liegen realiter auf anderen Transpondern. Auf völlig anderen Transpondern.

Beispiel: Sky One sendet auf 12285 V vom Astra 2B im South Beam. Der ist problemlos in Südspanien zu empfangen und hat sogar einen extra Spot Beam für die kanarischen Inseln.

Die irische Version sendet im North Beam.

Der Wechsel von Sky One UK auf den South Beam erfolgte gleichzeitig mit der Abschaltung der BBC auf dem 2A. Ein Schelm ist, wer böses dabei denkt.

I fully agree. It is highly unlikely that Sky will give Freeview cards to potential subscribers. They want to sell full-fledged subscriptions, and it is an important step for them to get working systems into customers' homes.

Das sehe ich überhaupt nicht so. Warum sollten Sie nicht Karten ohne System verkaufen? Die Karten funktionieren doch eh nur in sky boxen. Wer sich die Karten zulegt hat doch also bereits ein sky system. Ich sehe die Freesat Geschichte eh nur als Konkurrenz zu Freeview.

There are various systems in the UK, re: if you want to watch freeview channels sky want there systems in these peoples homes, with the hope that they might subscribe some day to a sky package. It has already been said by sky that they will provide a "system" that comes with a card providing access to freeview channels.

Of course there will be, the usuall suspects selling cards, but my guess, its not going to happen that quick, when this system does start, wait a few weeks/months and shop around for the best deals. Remembering its a 2 year card that will most likely have a renewal fee.

I know of the various systems in the Uk. The thing is though that there is no reason for sky not to sell ftv cards separately and lets face it, this whole freesat deal is just the old ftv cards with a fancy new name. To use those cards however you have to have a sky box anyway. Why should former customers who missed the deadline to change their old cards last year be forced to buy an additional box?

I agree with you hole heartly, I suspect sky are issuing boxes this time around as there last attempt failed to generate new subscription customers, this time they cant loose as they are charging for the equiptment.

Regardless of who issues the cards, if it goes into a skydigibox sky are behined it.

Es wäre schön, wenn das gehen würde. Aber irgendwie habe ich da meine Zweifel. Zumal wohl nichtmals feststeht, ob es USB 1 oder 2 sein wird.

It should be possible though to upgrade the Sky+ V2 with a bigger harddrive. I found instructions on how to upgrade to a 250GB drive so the only benefit of the new box would be the added USB ports (whatever those will be good for). But I also read that the current box is limited to 132GB's, gotta do more reading on that

Okay - das wusste ich nicht. Ich hab leider kein SKY...

@Marty:
Do you have a complete list of channels, i'd be able to get with a SKY Entertainment subscription - including the Free-To-Air channels?

I always looked for a list like that on your skydigitalcards Website and the regular SKY Page. Never found one (although it's possible I didn't searched good enough).

It's a pity I won't be able to get a SKY subscription for the next few years, cuz where I live for around 80% of the time, I can't use satellite cuz I don't have a southern window / balcony. But when that's gonna change, you'll be the first one I'm gonna contact to finally get a SKY subscription...
