    Hello,

here's a problem for anybody who like kindly to answer me.

Hardware: TerraTec Home Cinema Basic + Cinergy T-Stick Dual Tuner.

Problem: all recorded files have mosaic effect (big pixels pop up for a short time when scene changes).

Comment: my netbook CPU power is clearly insufficient (but there could be something else!).
    to reduce problem, I tried:
    1) to close all other application,
    2) to close as daemons as possible (anti-virus too),
    3) to set THC Basic priority to high (in options),
    4) to disable timeshift,
    5) to record one audio track only,
    6) to upgrade the video card driver,
    7) the file format is mpg2 program stream (mpg),
    8) AC-3 is included in options,
    9) the video renderer is Overlay Mixer (but disabled during recording),
    10) the video decoder is Cyberlink Video/SP using (probably) H.264,
    11) the audio decoder is Cyberlink Video/SP.

In my opinion, the problem could be solved changing the video resolution (704x576) and/or the frame rate that are too high, but I can't do this.
Changing H.264 for DIVX could be another good thing.

    Finally, the questions:

    1) Could I change decoder (if yes, how)?
    2) Could I change resolution and frame rate of Cyberlink Video/SP H.264 (if yes, how)?
    3) Other suggestions are surely appreciated.

THC Basic + Cinergy work quite well; video rendering works fair and is better than video recording.

That's all. I thank very much everybody who will answer me.

    Sincerely, Maci.

You use an outdated version of THC. The latest version of THC is 6.18.

I think it could be a reception problem. Look for lost packets at the signal information screen and adjust the position of your antenna . Try to record transport stream instead of program stream. Use THC to playback the recordings. Try to defragment your hard disk.

To record a program no decoder is needed. For scheduled recordings THC does not run the decoder. A change of the decoder would not have any effect for the recording itself. The program is recorded exactly as received - that's why a modification is neither necessary nor useful.
