27/05/04 Fox set to launch lifestyle channel FUEL
American broadcaster Fox International is launching its first lifestyle channel FUEL in the UK later this year. The channel, which aims to hit the airwaves in the fourth quarter of 2004, features a combination of general entertainment, extreme sports and music programming that are targeted at 13-24 year olds. The European roll-out will start in Italy. It will be available on Eutelstat and the channel is currently in discussions with platforms in the UK, Germany, Central Europe, Switzerland, France and Scandinavia. FUEL was first launched in the US in July 2003 and in Australia in March 2004. Marina Williams, vice president Fox International Channels Europe, told MediaWeek: “FUEL has been well received in the US and is rapidly expanding its distribution domestically."
