hi guys,

my german writing is not so great so I'll do this in English. It would be great to hear some remarks from HDTV fans on our project. If you want I can also give some extra information and I would like to get your input.

The picture quality was mostly brilliant, but the content wasn't so appealing so far. But it is a project and it's a big step in the right direction. A pity the real big TV stations in Europe are still ignoring HDTV.

hi,

each HDTV channel has the same problem to offer a good program, espically for a new channel. The people expect too much by now.
I also work in the HDTV business and i know how hard it is to bring Costumers the right Product and Euro1080 is in the same situation.


If you really work for Euro1080, i have a question for you:
According to my Information you have a contract with HDNet USA for Program Content, which should be on the Event Channel by start. When will this happen?
So far, nothing new and i don`t get any Information about Euro1080 at the moment so i would be happy if you can give me a little overview of the future program schedule.

Hi there

Maybe I can give u following information. We started Euro1080 in Januar 2004. In a first gear we have been given content, about 50 hrs from Januar untill end of May because of the simple reason that we did not have any viewers yet. The STBs are now coming into the market and from May untill September we are moving into second gear, meaning that we are offering more interesting content as first adopters and true believers will start buying the STBs. However I do believe that in this early stage quality is much more important than content. From SEPTEMBER on we will have a big start of sales of STBs and we will become much more a consumer channel. We are changing the name, look and feel of the channel !!!!! It will no longer be called Euro1080. Euro1080 is our corporate name and we first wanted to get this name known in the market before launching our channel which will be called HD1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Content will increase and will be based upon 5 themes : MUSIC, SPORTS, XPLORE, TRENDS and even at the end of the year we will start with MOVIES !!!

SO please do not complain about content as we will only start with more content when STBs are in the shops, which will be September.

By beginning of next year also dubbing and subtitling will be introduced.

The event Channel, HDe, has already showen attractive content as the European Soccer games, concert like The NEw YEars COncert, Elton John, The Pretenders and so on. We are also offering a new package which will be based upon Rock in Rio, The night of the Proms and other great stuff.

first of all a friendly hello and a big thank-you for bringing hdtv to europe!

i am doing a lot of propaganda for your channel, also i am not able to receive it right now (using a hauppauge nexus). but i get a lot of positive reaction about euro1080.

my only hope is, that the current standard, mpeg2, will not be changed in the near future to mpeg4 which leads in buying a new receiver , as you did with implementing the encryption later on and so very early adopter have to rebuy a set top box because of lack of ca support.

personally, i am very keen on seeing some hurricane festivall footage in september, because i wasn´t able to attend the festival, so i could at least see some musicacts at the mainstage. in glorious hdtv

hi again,

so then my current information are right and i thought already there would be possibly more.
So my Informations are right that the influence of the HDNet program content will start with the end of 2004.
The change of the name was new for me, but i really looking foward to this cause the working name Euro1080 sounds not really good to me.

I have another Question on the way...
I also heard that there will be some live Event from HDNet during the next year on EURO1080 (HD1), but the copyright questions are not clarified yet.
Do you have any Information about this point?

Hello,

At first I wish to say that I'm also really impressed by the very good quality that High Definition offers in comparison with normal Television - I've seen almost all the content you currently broadcasting - and I'm even impressed by those Operas and classical concerts (even though I don't really like these kind of things )

But I've got two questions and hope you can answer them.

1.
I've seen some scenes from DJ Tiesto (in the stunning images of High Definition content program) - are there any plans to broadcast the whole event? (and I don't mean the TMF Music awards)

2.
Unfortunatly you started decrypting the channel and I would have to pay 200€ for a conditional acces card - and have to get a CI-Interface for my PC...
Are there any plans for "free to air" content next year or setting up a free high definition channel, - aren't companies interested in doing some high-definition advertisment in television?

Hallo to all,
I am from Athens,Greece and in few and plain words our problem is called RECEPTION!Yes, we have no signal from Euro1080.Nothing, nada, zero!

Even with dishes as large as 2 m. we do not recieve a thing.
I guess the problem must be due to the weak signal of the Euro1080 tpd.
I put up a questionnaire in the Greek forum www.avforum.gr to see If there were others with the same problem, and quess what? Nobody can get Euro 1080 in the greater Athens area.

We have contacted people from Astra, Euro 1080, even Quali-tv.Nobody seems to know the nature of the problem,to say the least.But does someone care for us HD-starving Greeks on the southern east part of the Continent?

I would be more than obliged If you could come up with a solution concerning either a stronger signal or whatever.
