"Czech Television (CT) has asked the country’s Broadcasting Council (RRTV) for permission to start DTT transmissions from next month. If its request is granted, the station will start distributing its channels CT1, CT2 and possibly also news-based CT24 to Prague and environs, extending coverage to the cities of Brno and Ostrava – and thereby reaching up to 35% of the country’s population – in the first half of next year. The Czech Republic is expected to initially have three multiplexes, one of which has already been reserved for CT. Operated by the transmission company CRa, it should reach 75% of the population one year after its launch and eventually up to 97%. CT plans to launch at least two more thematic channels once the DTT platform is fully up and running."
