There are no DVB-T2 outside the test labs of BBC, RAI, Teracom, TU-Braunschweig and other DVB-T2 developers.

So it is of course impossible for Norway to use DVB-T2.

Norway took the best available system in 2007, but it will not be the best system from 2010 onwards.

The first commercial DVB-T2 receivers are expected to be available as early as the middle of 2009. / EBU

I think you 100 % wrongly focus on the technical side of DVB-T2 - the all important side is the economy in the change to DVB-T2 and most importantly the much lower running cost per program-channel possible with the combination of DVB-T2 and MPEG-4.

And those DVB-T boxes already in the field are NOT a problem for any economy. They are payed for and thats it.

Ich habe nie behauptetm daß DVB-T2 schnell kommen wird.
Ich habe lediglich auf dreierlei hingewiesen:
1. DVB-T2 wird in Guilford und Turin bereits regulär benutzt
2. Weitere RTL-Aufschaltungen in unverschlüsseltem MPEG wird es nicht geben.
3. Wenn RTL schon auf MPEG-4 warten, können sie gleich noch 2 Jährchen dranhängen und auf DVB-T2 warten.

 

Finland HDTV in 2010/11 via DVB-T2 says YLE

The site Itviikko.fi has articles about possible HDTV via DTT in Finland.
This will not happen before 2010 or into 2011.

The national broadcaster YLE has - as I understand the article - recommended to the Government that HDTV should not be introduced before DVB-T2 is on the market and can be used.

Digita the network operator favours a more gradual introduction and mentions potential risks when introducing new technology.
The failure of MHP was put forward by Digita as an example.

It is somewhat stange as the chairman of the DVB-T2-CM (commercial workgroup) is Mr Seppo Nieminen (Digita) and the MHP failure is not due to bad technology, but mostly due to a lack of patent pool and the high cost of the needed MHP licenses. A patent-pool is now a dvb.org requiremnt for all new standards.

Es gibt News aus Lettland.

Die lettische Telekom hat die Lizenz für den Betrieb einer DVB-T-Plattform erhalten. Der Sendestart soll erst 2011 erfolgen [stimmt das? nein], natürlich mit MPEG-4 Codec.

Inhalt: Lattelecom erhält das Recht zur Nutzung der Frequenzbereiche 174-230 MHz und 470-862 MHz. Die Regierung verlangt vom Betreiber, innerhalb von 60 Tagen ein Abkommen mit dem Lettischen Radio- und TV-Center für die Nutzung der Infrastruktur für die terrestrische Ausstrahlung von Fernsehsendungen abzuschließen. Die Programme des öffentlich-rechtlichen Fernsehens müssen mit einer stationären Antenne in 99% des Landes frei empfangbar sein. An der Ausschreibung des Plattformbetriebes hatten sich sechs Bewerber beteiligt, darunter TDF.

The government has asked for proposals for two HD muxes to be broadcast in VHF band III. Finland has GE06 allocations for two DTT muxes in VHF band III and no DAB allocations.

Four proposals were received last week from Anvia, Digita Oy, DNA Oy and Telemast Nordic Oy.

The proposal from Anvia includes use of DVB-T2 from the start. Anvia has already initiated the first DVB-T2 tests in the Nordic region.
