    I have this problem also from hibernate start. The system is setup to do only the basics tasks (i also recently reinstalled XP for another reason so the system is very clean). The proc is free from load. The sound is also interrupted, also ts recording, the corruption goes gradually away and it's totally gone after 10-13 minutes. I installed and used also another program (mytheatre) and the problem is identical.
    I have an asus notebook
    Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
    DirectX: 9.0c (4.09.00.904)
    Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz
    ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700
    510 MB RAM
