Wäre ja kein allzu großer Verlust. Da läuft doch schon ewig nichts Neues mehr sondern immer dieselben Sitcoms in Dauerschleife.

Home Improvement, 8 Simple Rules, Hope & Faith und gelegentlich noch Scrubs.

Wäre für mich trotzdem ein Verlust, denn eine Folge Home Improvement zum Entspannen abends geht bei mir immer. Dank der Endlosschleifen bei abc1 hat man dazu auch jede Menge Gelegenheiten.

Im Grunde stimmt es aber schon, abc1 lebt nur von ein paar wenigen Serien, wobei selbst da immer mal wieder neue Staffeln in Erstausstrahlung kommen.

Ich habe mal im DigiGuide geschaut, wie lange die Daten für abc1 vorliegen und die EPG Daten enden genau in der Nacht vom 30. September zum 1. Oktober.

Das hat natürlich noch nicht viel zu sagen, da vielleicht noch keine neueren Daten vorliegen, aber merkwürdig ist es irendwie schon.

Ich hoffe nur, dass sich das Gerücht nicht bewahrheitet.

Walt Disney Television is to axe US entertainment channel abc1, which has a valuable Freeview slot. The channel, which predominantly runs US comedies, goes out on Freeview between 6am and 6pm daily.
Disney said its inability to extend the channel's Freeview hours into peaktime was a key factor in the decision.
Walt Disney Television EMEA executive vice president and managing director John Hardie said: "Since we launched abc1 in 2005 we have re-focused sharply on the development of the Disney brand, in particular the Disney Channel and the growth in UK and Europe in the past few years has been phenomenal.
"While abc1 successfully found a strong audience in day time through introduction of day long fiction, the inability to get access to a Freeview primetime spectrum together with our focus on the Disney brand led us to the conclusion that it was best to move on".
The channel said no decision had been taken about whether to sell the abc1 spectrum or replace it with another of its channel.
Shows on abc1 include Tim Allen vehicle Home Improvement and family comedy 8 Simple Dates and Ellen.

Disney opts to axe ABC1

ABC1, the general US entertainment channel from Disney, is to close down next month.

Speculation that the channel would be pulled from Disney's lineup of UK channels started earlier this week on the Digital Spy forums after edits to various articles on Wikipedia indicated that ABC1's demise was imminent. One forum member spotted a page edit that indicated advertisers had been informed that the station would be closing in October, which has now been confirmed.

ABC1 broadcasts from 6am to 6pm on digital terrestrial TV but 24 hours a day on other platforms. John Hardie, Walt Disney TV's executive VP and managing director in Europe, the Middle East and Africa told Broadcast that ABC1's "inability to get access to a Freeview primetime spectrum" and a corporate decision to "focus on the Disney brand" resulted in a decision "that it was best to move on."

At this stage it has not been confirmed what will happen with the slot occupied by ABC1 on Freeview, although discussion and speculation is already underway. The channel launched on September 27, 2004, initially only on Freeview. It later gained carriage on Telewest, NTL, and, in 2005, Sky.
